Position Summary
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in theoretical condensed matter physics. The successful candidate is expected to have a PhD in condensed-matter theory and will work in the group of Professor Mark Dykman in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Michigan State University. She or he will participate in the research of micro-electro-mechanical resonators based on doped silicon, with the goal of developing the understanding of the processes that lead to their aging, studying the decoherence mechanisms of mechanical eigenmodes related to the electron-phonon coupling, and finding the way of improving the frequency stability of the modes. The initial appointment will be for one year but is renewable for an additional year or two years. Close collaboration with the group of Professor Steven Shaw (FIT) and the experimental groups of Professors Gaurav Bahl (UIUC) and Thomas Kenny (Stanford), as well as with other leading theoretical and experimental groups working on nano- and micro-mechanical systems is envisioned.
